Fancy Dress Idea - Amy Winehouse

Seeing as it's Halloween on Monday, I thought I'd share my favourite fancy dress idea. I dressed up as Amy Winehouse for my boyfriends birthday, and it was the easiest fancy dress ever!

The only thing I bought was my wig, which was £20 from a fancy dress shop. You can get these cheaper on ebay but as I had no time I didn't have much choice!
I then wore a white vest top with a black bra (classy!) and denim shorts, with some battered leopard print pumps I was about to throw out. I'm afraid I don't have any pictures of my full outfit :(
I wore lots of gold chains round my neck, and also picked up a fake tattoo kit from the fancy dress shop which had Amy's exact tattoos! You can also find these on ebay.

For my make up I of course went for the trade mark black eye liner - the bigger the better! I also drew on a black dot for her lip piercing.

Easy peasy!

Here's a few more pictures from the night

L-R - Ellie, Me & Beth.
Ellie was Cleopatra and Beth was Betty Boop!

My work colleague Aidan & I, who I bumped into during the night!

What's been your favourite fancy dress outfits?

Review - Nail Rock Designer Nail Wraps

In my last haul I showed you some nail wraps that I picked up in the ASOS sale.
Nail Rock Desinger Nail Wraps
£3.95 - down from £6.70

These are a cheaper alternative to minx nails that you can apply with a hair dryer. I was really looking forward to trying these, but sadly was not impressed.

They were quite easy to apply, there's lots of different sizes in the pack and you just need to trim them to size.  Easy enough!
You then need to apply the heat with a hair dryer, but they just wouldn't stick! I spent so long trying to get them to stick, and when they finally did I just wasn't impressed with how they looked. It just looked tacky and cheap, and it felt like they were going to peel off.

I wore them to work all day, and this was the result at the end of the day.

I was down to 1 nail - bad times! I work in an office, so it's not like my hands are particularly put through hell during an average day. The edges just kept peeling up and it drove me mad! One of the men in my office also asked me why I had stickers on my nails, not good.

I'm not sure whether my application was just plain rubbish, but I did spend quite a lot of time following the instructions and applying the heat. Either way, it boasts to be quick and easy which it certainly was not so unless your some kind of nail wrap whiz I would steer clear of these wraps.

Has anyone else ever tried these? Are there any other nail wraps that are better than these?

Dress of the Week

This weeks dress of the week is from New Look! It's a gorgeous vintage inspired sequin dress, perfect for the Christmas party season!

The shoes are also from New Look - it's definitely essential to go for a plan shoe with this dress, otherwise you may end up looking like a Christmas tree!
Both from New Look.

I hope your all having a wonderful weekend!

Ultimate obsession - Music Videos

Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.
Jimi Hendrix

First of all I want to say a BIG thank you to all your lovely comments on my last post. Each and everyone has brought a smile to my face when I've really needed it :)
I thought I'd do a really quick post of some of the music videos I'm watching at the moment. I have a big obsession with music videos, if I find one I love then I'll watch it over and over again until I literally am sick of the site of it. I love the thought & production that goes with it, as well as the music of course!
Here's my current top 10 that have been getting me through a rubbishy week!

:(

So I just wanted to do a really quick post to let you know that I am still blogging, I've had a really rubbishy week involving a taxi driver crashing into my new car :( Very scary but luckily no-body was hurt. I'm now spending countless hours on the phone to my insurance company (who are being an absolute NIGHTMARE) so I've not got time for blogging, but please don't go anywhere as I will be back soon.

I can't believe I have over 50 followers, I know it might not seem much but it's really wierd to think that 50 people check out my blog :)

As the car crash happened on my way back from a Charlie Simpson gig, I'm going to share a video with you!
Enjoy :)

Haul - This weeks internet purchases!

Ok so I had a bit of a rubbish day on Monday and decided to take it out on my debit card. I really love internet shopping, mainly because I'm a kid at christmas when the parcel arrives - apologies to my neighbours who are forever taking stuff in for me whilst I'm at work, home made cookies are on the way :)

Apologies in advance for my rubbish pictures, my camera is awful :(

Right, so first off is ASOS. They have a massive sale on at the moment, so I picked up some amazing boots, as I'm getting a bit bored of wearing my uggs whenever it gets slightly cold!
London Rebel Suede Clog Boot
£24 - down from £74 BARGAIN
I can't believe the price of these! They are so comfy, and they feel like such good quality too. I'm going to wear them with jeggings tucked in as they are quite fitted so I'm not going to be able to stuff my jeans in there!  I think these are also going to look good with tights and shorts/skirts/dresses pretty much everything really! Love them!

Nail Rock Designer Nail Wraps
£3.95 - down from £6.70
I've been wanting to try these for a while now, I really hope they look good! I have a big obsession with leopard print, I will let you know how I get on :)

Next up was Quiz clothing. This is the first time I've ordered something from this site, and I love the cardigan, but the jeggings I ordered gave me serious camel toe ... it was vile!

Mocha Cable Knitted 4 Button Cardigan
£22.99
I've been looking for a cardigan like this for ages, I wanted one that was nice and thick but not too pricey, and this one is perfect!

And lastly, I purchased my first MAC products. I'm not sure why I've never bought and MAC stuff before, but here are my first two purchases.
Paint Pot in Constructivist - £13.50
Bronzing powder in matt bronze - £17.50
I chose constructivist because I usually wear brown on my eyes, as I have big brown eyes and it's easy to wear. This shadow is absolutely gorgeous and it's really pigmented, I can't wait to see how it wears!

So there you have it, I went a little bit crazy on the buying but I absolutely love everything I've bought!

What's everyone else been buying?

Dress of the Week

I feel as though I should re-name this feature due to my laziness, perhaps dress of the whenever-I-feel-like-it? I'm rubbish, apologies.

My dress of the week this week is from Minnies Boutique. Fans of 'The Only Way Is Essex' will know that this is the clothing boutique owned by stars of the show Sam & Billie Faiers. As I live know where near Essex, I have been hoping that they would start selling online, and they finally have!

Heart Belt Dress
£36.99

I LOVE the back of this dress, it's so pretty :)

Team it with some statement shoes and you will be looking reem!

Asymmetric Kicks Fuchsia Kid
£80

I Love Tesco

Yes you heard me correctly, my new love affair is with high street giant Tesco, and I'm proud to admit it.
I feel I should give you a bit of a background story as to how this love affair began. I turned up at work last week completely oblivious to the fact that I was supposed to be sitting in on a very important sales meeting with Peugeot. I had completely forgotten and was wearing distressed skinny jeans and my Foo Fighters t-shirt...not a good look when your trying to selling corporate clothing! Major oops. My role before was admin, so I could pretty much turn up in my Primark all in one sleep suit and no-one would really bat an eyelid.
When I got home I decided that my wardrobe needed updating, so that I could go to work looking smart and not be caught out again!
Mother then pipes up 'Why don't you try Tesco'. I have never and will never take fashion advice from my mother, who is more than partial to a fleece and nice comfortable mules from Clarks (love her really), I decided to check it out.

I was majorly impressed! Here's what I've bought so far;
£14 - fits beautifully! The company I work for is called Purple, so this is pretty perfect.
£7 - I felt like I was stealing this to be honest!
£12.50 - Definitely not the most interesting pair of shoes I've bought, but they do have leopard print lining!

So there you have it, I am officially Tesco's number 1 fan when it comes to clothing.
